Hard Times are a plenty

We all go through hard times. It's just one of the fabulous gifts of life.
But what I think the most important part of hard times, is how you handle them. Some people can't. It's sad and sucks but its true. But through the ages most of us have become pretty damn good with dealing with hard times.
Right now, our economy is going through a hard, and consequently so are a lot of Americans. But it happens, hell history's always repeating itself.
But it's not just times like that, the ecomomy isn't failing (thankfully) all the time. There are times were people, loved ones, get sick, where they die. There are times were your robbed, or you're going through a break up. Every day there are thousands of people who are going through a hard time.
And I think we all forget this. Everyone has those times that just suck, no ones exempt. But us humans, we don't seem to understand this. All of us (well, except maybe Jesus and other such people) are so caught up in our own lives and our own hard times, that more often than not we don't see other people's hard times. On our parts, this is bad, but it's just part of our nature.
I think that's part of why people sometimes just don't get along, because they simply can't see what the other person is going through. I'm not saying this is the answer to world peace or anything like that, but it would do us ALL good to see other people's hard times and be there, even if you're going through your own hard time. Just stop and acknowledge that that person is also suffering.

The, end

What is the end?
We growing learning that energy never goes anywhere, so how can we say that other things end? Isn't everything in our lives just a mix of energy? If that's true then nothing can end.
In my opinion there is no such thing as 'the end'. It's simply a phrase we use when we are done telling part of the story, but everything goes on, even once it's said to have ended. I don't mean it continously go on physically, or whatever the case may be. What I mean, and I'm sorry this is a sorta morbid example, is this: Mary dies. She never married, had no children, and mostly kept to herself. So this would be the end of Mary, right? Not necessarily. For her tombstone (or urn) will continue, and so will she, her memory lives on in her family (aunts, uncles, ect.) and in her neighbors, and even the few friends she's had over the years.
How is it possible for us to come to an end when we are basically a bunch of calories, which is energy? It's scientifically not.
I don't believe in things ending, the simply stop, but they do no simply cease to exist.

Is everything okay?

Nope. I'm not talking about personally, I'm talking about globally and human-ly. Just look at us. We suck.
So, what? Well because of us, we've screwed up our planet, caused several species of animals to go instinct (and some plants along the way), we've completely messed with out global weather (We could even have started global warming), we bomb the hell out of the land, pollute the oceans, and to top it all off we can't even get along with one another, and just keep coming up with more ways to screw our selves over.
Really, though, what happen to the human nature that cared about the land we came from? What ever happen to humans taking care of the land, our planet and one another? No, everything is not okay!
We've screwed ourselves up so bad, that I wonder if we will ever go back to being okay.

Oh, sorry we only care about the bad.

So I'm sitting there waiting for my internet to wake up, staring at my AOL homepage. And guess what the headline is? Yep, something about these people not helping a dying man. Now, the only words that seem fully express what I was thinking were, What the hell?!
There are so many bad things in this world, yes, but really now? Is our society so lost that people just walk past a dying man not even batting an eyelash and then the media feels that we need to read this? What happen, people?
Is all our society care about is all the bad things? It seems that all we care about is what is going wrong in the world? Does it make you feel better, reading about the dying man nobody helped? And those people who walked by, did they feel better not helping him, because hey at least their life didn't suck that bad.
Ugh, people really!

Mind...over....matter!

Betcha can't guess what' this blog's gonna be about?!
So we've all heard the phrase, "Oh, it's just a matter of mind over matter". But what does that mean?
That means that our good ol' brains are actually able to confuse themselves into believing that something that isn't happening is. It's crazy, really.
I mean if our brains can tell the rest of our body that it's sick, when really it's healthy, what else is the human brain capable of?
Isn't it, and I could be wrong here, that we only use like 10% of our brains? So if we actually starting using the other 90% we could be superhumans and have special talents, or whatever!
Really, think about it. My favorite example of mind over matter is when people are given drinks that they believe to be alcholic (even if there isn't even a drop of alcohol in it) and then they act drunk. I think it's the most amusing thing in the world, that their mind doesn't check and see if it really is under any influences, it just assumes.
What would happen if there were to be another ban on liquor? To prevent any underground collections, all the government has to do is tell the people that there is still alcohol in their drinks, and no one would know the difference. Well, okay some will probably figure it out.
Makes me think about what else my mind is trivking me about, the human brain is such a complex thing that really it's amazing us ape descendants managed to figure out whats real, and what's not.
But, my question for you, is what if what we think is reality really isn't? What if it's a mind over matter thing, and reallity is really suckish so our mind convinces us that this is reallity? Crazy, I know, but you know I do have a point.

Patience, it's a viture

When we were younger our parents used to tell us, "Patience is a virture, Bobby". Sure, but so what?
I don't think people really care anymore. I know I'm in the group of people that are always saying, "Uhm hello? NOW!!!" And really, I don't think it's that unreasonable. Sure, you can't do everything immediately, but there are somethings that you shouldn't have to wait for.
For instance, in our day and age of amazing technological advances, I don't think it's unreasonable for me to expect my internet to work. I don't even have dial up, so it shouldn't be slow. And I don't think people should have to sit there twiddling their thumbs, waiting for their waitor to return with the check.
Yes, I do realize I can't instantly be transported to Hawaii. But I can expect my car to not take five minutes to get to 40 mph. As humans living in a very hightech society, there really are some things we shouldn't have to wait on.
So, does that mean that patience is no longer a virture?
You bet! No one is patient, that includes you! We all expect things NOW and are shocked when we are told to wait.
Next time someone tells you that you need to be more patient, feel free to roll your eyes cause you know that they aren't patient either.

Perfection

Oh, yeah I'm going there. Perfection. We all strive, fight, long for and yet none of us can have it. It's just not fair.
We all want to be perfect, right? Some of us realize that we never will be, but for the most part it's what everyone strives for. But, as humans, we simply can't be perfect. I don't think I know or have met anyone who wasn't flawed. Okay, I bet you think that's not fair, and it's not really.
What I mean is that no matter what we think, see, hear or say we can't actually be perfect. There is always something that makes us flawed. Whether it be something small like we bite our nails or something big like we can't handle social situations. We all have those "quirks".
No I'm not trying to ruin what you're shoot for-if you are shooting for perfection- I'm just letting you know that you're doing it in vain. But hey it makes some people happy, thinking and acting like they have a perfect life. And hey maybe they do.
