The Holidays

Ah, yes it's that time of year again. The time for fighting matches over toys, putting ones self into debt and dealing with the in-laws.
Aren't these suppose to be the times of giving, of helping those in need and enjoying yourself? Isn't the whole point of Christmas about Jesus' birth? Hint the name Christmas.
So why is it that people feel the need to forego church, and spend those last minutes before the big day buying last minute presents and wrapping? It seems that the holidays have lost the cheer that they should have.
Perhaps Christmas has become all too commercialized. All anyone cares about is presents. Forget the family and the delicious food, gimme the presents.
I believe that this reflects our society; all we care about is the material. We no longer care about the birth of Jesus, oh yeah the whole point of Christmas. Hmmm...

You're are so correct! Next year I am going to make sure that my daughter and I attend Midnight Mass! That will help put the CHRIST back in Christmas!
